Subject: Soul

 Hymn 42
 Jonathan Evans*

 Come, Thou all‑transforming Spirit,
   Bless the sower and the seed;
 Let each heart Thy grace inherit;
   Raise the weak, the hungry feed;
 From the Gospel, from the Gospel
   Now supply Thy people's need.

 O, may all enjoy the blessing
   Which Thy holy word doth give;
 Let us all, Thy love possessing,
   Joyfully Thy truth receive;
 And forever, and forever
   To Thy praise and glory live.

The scriptural selection is from Romans.
Romans 12:1‑16 (to 1st .)
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.  For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.  For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.  Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.  Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.  Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.  Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.  Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.  Be of the same mind one toward another.

Silent prayer, followed by the audible repetition of the Lord’s prayer, with its spiritual interpretation as given in the Christian Science textbook.

Our Father which art in heaven,
Our Father-Mother God, all-harmonious,
Hallowed be Thy name.
Adorable One.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy kingdom is come; Thou art ever-present.
Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Enable us to know – as in heaven, so on earth
God is omnipotent, supreme.
Give us this day our daily bread;
Give us grace for today; feed the famished affections;
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And Love is reflected in love;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil;
And God leadeth us not into temptation, but delivereth us from sin, disease, and death.
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.
For God is infinite, all-power, all Life, Truth, Love, over all, and All.

 Hymn 18
 Anonymous

 Be firm and be faithful; desert not the right;
 The brave become bolder the darker the night.
 Then up and be doing, though cowards may fail;
 Thy duty pursuing, dare all and prevail.

 If scorn be thy portion, if hatred and loss,
 If stripes or a prison, remember the cross.
 God watches above thee, and He will requite;
 Forsake those that love thee, but never the right.

 Hymn 88
 Thomas T. Lynch*

 Gracious Spirit, dwell with me:
 I myself would gracious be,
 And with words that help and heal
 Would Thy life in mine reveal;
 And with actions bold and meek
 Christ's own gracious spirit speak.

 Truthful Spirit, dwell with me:
 I myself would truthful be,
 And with wisdom kind and clear
 Let Thy life in mine appear;
 And with actions brotherly
 Follow Christ's sincerity.

 Mighty Spirit, dwell with me:
 I myself would mighty be,
 Mighty, that I may prevail
 Where unaided man must fail;
 Ever by triumphant hope
 Pressing on and bearing up.

"The Scientific Statement of Being" (S&H p. 468} and the correlative scripture according to I John 3:1-3.

There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all. Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal. Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual.

1John.3

[1] Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
[2] Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
[3] And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

Benediction

Psalms 16:11
Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
